Welcome back from Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora

Dear Moreno Valley Unified School District Families,

On behalf of all of us at Moreno Valley Unified School District, I want to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year!

Summer’s end has come, and I hope your children are refreshed and ready to learn in this new school year. We are excited to welcome our new and returning students to what I know will be a great learning experience.

On a personal note, I’m thrilled to start my first full school year as your superintendent. I’ve spent 35 years in education, including six at MVUSD, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together with our families and staff.  Since being appointed by the Board of Education in February, I’ve made it my priority to continue our motto of “Excellence on Purpose.” We’re focusing on individual students and each of their needs to provide a top-notch education to every child in our district.

I want you to be as proud of this great district as I am, so I want to share some of the exciting things happening here. We have seen an incredible 22% growth in our graduation rate over the past six years, the largest in Riverside County. This year marks the start of the International Baccalaureate programs at two of our schools, which will keep us on an upward spiral of success. We’ll have multiple opportunities for students to learn 21st-century skills with the addition of computer coding classes and clubs at each school site, as well as Riverside County’s first Computer Science Immersion School at North Ridge Elementary. Landmark, Sunnymead and Vista Heights Middle Schools are all National Schools to Watch, meaning they’ve been identified as model schools that others can learn from. Additionally, we are continuing our extensive school modernization program to support our students’ achievements. New buildings or renovated spaces will open at several school sites this year.

I hope you’ll take the time to get to know the teachers, administration and classified staff at your child’s school site. Your school’s principal and staff members are ready to welcome you as a valued partner in your child’s education. They are committed to providing the best learning environment for all students and will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Again, welcome to a new year here at MVUSD, where we continue to have “Excellence on Purpose” and “Shine Brighter” together so we will make a difference in the life of each student in our district.

I am here to serve you, and I welcome your ideas, questions and feedback – please feel free to contact me at mkedziora@mvusd.net. And if you see me in the community or at your child’s school, please say hello. I would love to meet you!

Sincerely,

Martinrex Kedziora, Ed.D.
